Prompt 1: Arrival Your first "day" Vernos Bay - at least, you assume it's daytime. The people are all out and going about their business, walking dogs, driving cars, operating their shops. There's no sunlight, however. No wind, no weather at all. Just this weird twilight, and you, a confused stranger who has no idea where they are or how they got here. Better find someone to help you get acclimated, and fast; people are starting to stare. Prompt 2: Festivus for the Rest of Us A festival seems to have broken out in the streets in honor of one of the gods. As the day wears on, things become rowdier and more jubilant. Join in the fun or hide from the carousing multitudes. Prompt 3: Choose your own adventure! Set up your own prompt for others to tag into! |

"So, you're new here, huh?" A lovely looking woman settles on the steps next to Dom and leans back against them, stretching out. Her jeans look designer, her shirt is probably silk (it is) and she's got a little flame pin on her lapel.
She looks back over her shoulder and grimaces. Not the place she'd like to be. She studies the other woman. "I'm Devika, Goddess of Hearth and Home." She keeps the homefires literally burning. "And you are?"

"Sorry, uh—did you say goddess?"

"Shall we go in? I don't think I've been in this one yet." She pushes herself up. "You do want to go in right?"

Which, she does very well. "I would explain, but it would be better if we just went in and saw if this is the place for you." She's not really one for lengthy explanations, anyway.
A flick of her fingers and a small flame appears above her fingers. "I doubt the electric's on. Shall we?"

A moment later, as they're climbing the steps: "What do you mean, the place for me?"

"Well..." Devika hedges. "How about we just go in and explore for a moment and we'll see from there, hmm?" She waves to a young woman pushing a double stroller who brightens and waves back.
Not that she's going to dump on this poor woman about missing gods, and being a replacement or anything.

Except how is this going to work if she can’t get home?
The thought stops her cold just as she puts her hand on the huge brass door to open it.

She puts her hand on the door, feeling the coolness of the brass. There doesn't seem to be anything going on.

Her voice cracks, and she sees it all over again: the axe smashing into Santiago's chest over and over again, Irving naming one member of her family after the other, the blood splatter on her face.
